Melissa Ahlberg has started as Communications and Advocacy Specialist at the Artists' Association of Finland in January. In addition, Iisa Lusa has started an internship as a Financial Administration Assistant.
Melissa Ahlberg started as the Communications and Advocacy Specialist at the Artists' Association of Finland on January 12.
The Communications and Advocacy Specialist is responsible for planning and coordinating the Artists' Association internal and external communications, as well as for the advocacy together with the Director and the Chair. The Specialist is also responsible for media relations and communications related to public art.
Melissa Ahlberg is a versatile professional who has worked in a different communication, fundraising, and advocacy roles in the non-profit sector. Most recently, she has worked as an Advocacy Specialist at the Finnish Refugee Council. Ahlberg has a master's degree in social and political science.
"It’s great to be able to do meaningful work to strengthen the working conditions of visual artists and the appreciation of art. In my role as a Communications and Advocacy Specialist, I will be able to utilize my own expertise and delve deeper into key themes of cultural policy. I am looking forward to working with artists and stakeholders", says Melissa Ahlberg.

Iisa Lusa began her financial administration internship at the Artists' Association on December 15 and will work until June 15. Lusa is a Helsinki-based visual artist and financial administration student who is looking for new challenges in the field of administration. During the internship, Lusa will assist with accounts receivable and payable and will be responsible for updating the visual artists' register. She will work from Monday to Wednesday. In her artistic work in recent years, Lusa has focused on sculpture, installation, and performance art. She works under the artist name Iisa-O.
