The open remote event on Thursday, March 12, at 9–10 a.m. invites all visual artists and anyone interested in the topic to discuss the future of the visual arts and the possible merger of visual artists' organisations!

At the event on March 12, Johan Wingestand will talk about the merger process of Sweden's Konstnärernas Riksorganisation. Wingestand chaired the working group that led the merger process of Swedish visual artists' organisations. Wingestand has a long and diverse background in the field of visual arts. He is currently the principal of the Gerlesborg Art School and a member of the board of the Stiftelsen Inuti foundation.

The event will be held in English, and no prior registration is required to attend. All events organised by the Artists’ Association of Finland adhere the principles of a safer space, to which all participants are also committed.

You are warmly welcome to attend the event, even if you have not previously participated in the discussions about the possible merger.

Join the event on Thursday, March 12, at 9–10 a.m. via this link (Zoom).

The Artists' Association of Finland and its member associations are currently engaged in exploratory discussions about a possible merger. The discussion is based on Roadmap for the Potential Merger of Organisations in the Visual Arts Industry. The reason for this project has been the need to improve the status of visual artists and visual arts in society. At this stage, no organisation has committed to integration.

The discussion will continue with a series of open morning coffee events throughout the spring of 2026. Future remote events will be held via Zoom on March 12, April 23, and May 28 from 9 to 10 a.m.

The Artists' Association of Finland has opened a feedback box where participants can anonymously submit topics they would like to see discussed at future meetings (link to the feedback box, Webropol survey).
