The Artists' Association of Finland invites visual artists and others working in the visual arts sector to take part in a survey on the operating environment of visual artists. The survey is open from 3 September to 15 October 2026.
The purpose of the survey is to explore how visual artists, arts professionals and others interested in the visual arts perceive the most important drivers of change, future developments and possible weak signals affecting the future of the sector.
The results will be used as part of the Rethinking the Future: Proposals for a New Visual Artist's Association development project. The project's objective is to improve advocacy for the visual arts and services for artists, as well as to enhance the sector's ability to respond to future needs.
The information collected through the survey will support the development work and help build stronger conditions for artistic practice in the future.
We encourage everyone from across the visual arts sector to participate and share their views.

Rethinking the Future: Proposals for a New Visual Artist's Association
Rethinking the Future: Proposals for a New Visual Artist's Association is a nationwide organisational development project launched by the Artists' Association of Finland and its member associations.
The aim of the project is to strengthen the position of visual artists and the visual arts in society and to safeguard the ability of artists' organisations to fulfil their mission in a changing operating environment.
During the project, one or more potential models for a new national organisation for visual artists will be developed, while current collaboration, particularly in the areas of advocacy and communications, will be strengthened.
