During autumn 2026, we will organise a series of workshops for visual artists exploring the future of the visual arts sector and the conditions needed to support artistic practice in the years ahead. This page brings together information about the upcoming workshops.
Welcome to explore the future of visual artists and art-making together!
In these workshops, we will examine the future of the visual arts and the work of visual artists using the Futures Triangle method. Together, we will consider the forces shaping the future of visual artists and artistic practice: what is holding us back, what is driving change, and what visions of the future are pulling us forward.
The aim of the workshops is to make visible the forces that influence the future of the visual arts and to identify the choices, discussions and actions needed next. The material generated through the workshops will be used in the Rethinking the Future: Proposals for a New Visual Artist's Association development work.
You are welcome to join as you are, with no preparation required. We warmly encourage you to bring your own perspectives, experiences and ideas into this shared development process.
The Artists' Association of Finland follows its Safer Space Principles at all events, and all participants are expected to commit to these principles.

Rethinking the Future: Proposals for a New Visual Artist's Association
Rethinking the Future: Proposals for a New Visual Artist's Association is a nationwide organisational development project launched by the Artists' Association of Finland and its member associations. The project aims to strengthen the position of visual artists and the visual arts in society and to safeguard the ability of artists' organisations to fulfil their mission in a changing operating environment.
During the project, one or more models for a new national organisation for visual artists will be developed, while current collaboration, particularly in the areas of advocacy and communications, will be strengthened.
