AARK locates in a former ferry staff apartment building from 1960, with yard. Great surrounding with good communications by the sea and the ferry, that operates between Nauvo - Korppoo. Opposite side leaves M/S Utö for outer archipelago, bus goes by the gate. From Galtby operates ship towards Åland islands and ferry to north archipelago.
We have 6 airy studio apartments and in the yard we have Atelje Ferry, that is for what ever use, working, small exhibitions, nice meeting place.
Every artist has own private apartment with all for normal living, just bring your tools. We even have a spot at Art House Turku, AARK Satellite, that can give a possibility to open a dialog with Turku art scene.
AARK is for art professionals. We have no demand to produce a new work, we give time for thinking, reading and experimenting, and of course time to continue a work in progress.
We focus on dialog inside the residency, with the surrounding archipelago nature and local people. Every artists has own private apartment, so good possibilities to focus on your own work.
Residency was founded 2014 by Korpo couple, artist Renja Leino & Benkku Andersson.
