Tämä on aloitus.
Olemme unelmoineet seminaarista,
poeettisen ajattelun jakamisesta, yhdessä kuvittelusta,
taidekeskustelusta, inspiroitumisesta, tärkeän äärellä olosta,
yhteen tulemisesta, hoivasta, puheenvuoroista ja esityksistä.
Olemme haaveilleet myös juhlista.
Tämä on kokeilu, jossa yhdistämme molemmat:
päivisin seminaari ja iltaisin juhlat!

Baltic Circlen kanssa yhteistyössä järjestettävä seminaari kokoaa yhteen köyhän kentän taiteilijoita ja sen ympärillä toimivia kulttuurityöläisiä kuratoitujen puheenvuorojen, keskustelujen ja esitysten äärelle. Tarkoituksena on avata tila keskustelulle taiteesta, poetiikoista ja rakenteista, sekä tarjota mahdollisuus unelmoida, jakaa ajatuksia ja juhlia yhdessä.

HAETTAVASTA OHJELMASTA
Seminaariin haetaan ohjelmaa avoimen haun kautta. Ohjelmaehdotukset voivat olla esimerkiksi puheenvuoroja, esityksiä, demoja tai keikkoja, joiden kesto on 5-30 minuuttia. Ohjelmaan voi ehdottaa myös paneelikeskusteluja kestoltaan 50 minuuttia ja työpajoja/harjoitteita kestoltaan max. 1h. Kutakin esitelmää, puheenvuoroa tai esitystä seuraa hetki keskustelulle. Demos Helsingin tilat mahdollistavat myös ehdotukset, joissa keskustellaan useassa eri tilassa samanaikaisesti, sekä kestolliset ehdotukset, joissa keskustelu tai työpaja jatkuu muun ohjelman rinnalla erillisessä tilassa pidempään.

Aihe on vapaa. Voit miettiä, mitä haluaisit jakaa köyhän kentän kollegoille, mistä haluaisit käydä keskustelua, mikä tuntuisi olennaiselta. Vapaa on myös esitystapa: esitys voi olla yksittäinen ajatus, valmisteltu puheenvuoro, keikka, yhdessä tehtävä harjoite, kuva jota katsellaan hiljaa, yksi pitkään kypsytelty kysymys, jotain vielä keskeneräistä ja tuloillaan olevaa, makupala, jotain jo hiottua ja satoja kertoja esitettyä. Kynnys on matala.

Voit ehdottaa ohjelmaa yksilönä, työryhmänä tai yhdistyksenä. Ohjelmanumeron kielenä voi olla suomi tai englanti. Järjestämme tarvittaessa DIY-henkisen simultaanitulkkauksen.

Esityksistä maksetaan pieni esityspalkkio. Palkkio voidaan maksaa vaihtoehtoisesti joko euroina (€) tai nannana (Ø).

Palkkiot:
Ryhmän koko 1-2 hlö: Per henkilö 177€ (+sivukulut) palkkana verokortilla TAI laskulla 240€ (sis. 10€ laskutuspalvelumaksun)
Ryhmän koko 3 hlö tai enemmän: 400€ (+sivukulut) koko ryhmälle TAI laskulla 540€ (sis. 10€ laskutuspalvelumaksun) yhteisesti koko ryhmälle

SLURPS haluaa luoda vaihtoehtoista taloutta käyttäen myös omaa, nanna-nimistä kirjastovaluuttaa. Nanna on uusi kokeellinen aikavaluutta, jota voi käyttää vastavuoroisiin palveluslahjoihin valuutan haltijoiden kanssa.
Lisäksi tarjoamme esiintyjille ruokaa.
Seminaarin ohjelman valitsee SLURPS-työryhmän kuraattorit.

JUHLAT
Seminaaria seuraa juhlat! Saa tulla myös pelkkään seminaariin tai pelkkiin juhliin. Juhliin pääset täyttämällä myöhemmin julkaistavan rekisteröitymislomakeen. Saa juhlia koko yön (ei ole pakko).

TILASTA
Demos Helsingin toimisto on entinen Kauppakorkeakoulun kirjasto. Tilassa on iso pääsali, joka mahdollistaa puheenvuorot ja keskustelut n. 100 hengelle sekä useita pieniä 10-20 hengen neuvotteluhuoneita.

Tilassa ollaan ilman kenkiä tai sisäkengillä. Tilassa on tuoleja ja pöytiä. Tarjoamme yksinkertaisen äänentoiston, sekä esitystekniikan (projektori, kaksi mikrofonia).

ESTEETTÖMYYS
Tilaan pääsee pyörätuolilla ja tilasta löytyy inva-vessa, mutta sähköpyörätuolin paino pitää tietää. Hissin painoraja on 250kg.

MIKÄ ON SLURPS?
SLURPS on taiteilijalähtöinen, taiteen saavutettavuutta parantava ja marginaalin tekijöitä esiin nostava nykytaiteen näyttämö. SLURPSin ytimessä on uusien, odottamattomien yhteistyön muotojen herättely. Etsimme reittejä, miten taiteen tekeminen voi kummuta kaltaisuudesta, solidaarisuudesta, resurssien ja voimavarojen jakamisesta kilpailun sijaan. SLURPS toteuttaa seminaarin yhteistyössä Baltic Circlen ja Demos Helsingin kanssa, sen toimintaa tukee Koneen Säätiö ja kumppanina toimii Esitystaiteen seura.

Open call for the SLURPS SEMINAR
program 21.-22.11.2026
APPLICATION PERIOD 1.8. - 6.9.

This is a beginning.
We have been dreaming of a seminar,
of sharing poetic thinking, imagining together,
of art discussion, being inspired, being close to something important,
of coming together, caring, speeches and performances.
We have also dreamed of a party.
This is an experiment where we combine both:
a seminar in the day and a party in the evening!

In collaboration with Baltic Circle Festival SLURPS SEMINAR brings together artists from the poor field and cultural workers around it for curated talks, discussions and performances. The purpose is to open a space for discussion about art, poetics and structures, and to offer an opportunity to dream, share ideas, and celebrate together.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
We are searching performances for the event through an open call. Programme proposals can be, for example, speeches, presentations, demos or gigs, lasting 5-30 minutes. Panel discussions lasting 50 minutes and workshops/exercises lasting max. 1 hour can also be proposed. Each presentation will be followed by a moment for discussion.

Demos Helsinki facilities also allow proposals in which discussions are held in several different spaces simultaneously, as well as durational proposals in which the discussion or workshop continues alongside the rest of the programme in a separate space for a longer period.

The topic is free. You can think about what you would like to share with colleagues in the poor field, what you would like to discuss, what would be essential. The presentation method is also free: a presentation can be a single idea, a prepared speech, a gig, an
exercise to be done together, a picture to be looked at silently, a long-matured question, something still unfinished and in the making, a taster, something already polished and presented hundreds of times. The threshold is low.

You can propose a programme as an individual, a working group or an association.
The language of the presentation can be Finnish or English. If necessary, we will arrange DIY-style simultaneous translation.

A small performance fee is paid for the performances. The fee can be paid alternatively in euros (€) or luxus nams (Ø).

Our fees are:
groups of 1-2 person: 177€ per person as salary with tax card (+ indirect labor costs), OR 240€ per person with invoice (incl. 10€ invoicing service fee).
groups of 3 persons or more: 400€ (+ indirect labor costs) for the whole group OR 540€ with invoice (incl. 10€ invoicing service fee) to be shared within the group.

SLURPS wants to create an alternative economy using its own library currency called luxus nams. Luxus nams is a new experimental time currency that can be used for reciprocal gifts with currency holders.
We will also provide food for the performers.
The seminar programme is chosen by the curators of the SLURPS working group.

PARTIES

The seminar is followed by party! You can also come just for the seminar or just for the party. To enter the party you need to fill out a registration form that will be published later.
You can party all night (not mandatory).

ABOUT THE SPACE
Demos Helsinki office is the former library of the School of Business. The space has a large main hall, which allows for speeches and discussions for about 100 people, and several smaller conference rooms for 10-20 people. You can find pictures of the space here!
You can enter the space without shoes or with indoor shoes. The space has chairs and tables. We provide simple sound and presentation technology (projector, two microphones).

ACCESSIBILITY
The space is wheelchair accessible and there is an accessible toilet. The weight limit of the elevator is 250kg.

WHAT IS SLURPS?
SLURPS is an artist-driven contemporary art collective that improves the accessibility of art and highlights marginalized groups. At the heart of SLURPS is the awakening of new, unexpected forms of collaboration. We seek ways in which art-making can be based on collegiality, solidarity, and the sharing of resources and capabilities rather than competition. SLURPS SEMINAR is organised in collaboration with Baltic Circle and Demos Helsinki, SLURPS supported by the Kone Foundation and cooperates with Live Art Society.
